Plano Gets a Bad Rap – Sometimes It’s Deserved
|
There is a certain snobbishness in Dallas about Plano. For the most part it is wholly undeserved and reflects a narrow-mindedness that is born of superficiality. |
As I say that, I am about to become a hypocrite and say nothing contributes to this attitude more than the garish, gaudy GoodFellas / Analyze This fountains of Plano. |
I am sure I will offend some folks and that is not my intention. But it seems like something should be said about this, those fountains are atrocious. Replace them with art work or maybe even a Live Oak or a Deodar Cedar but preferably a Live Oak or Bur Oak. Why do people with multi-million dollar homes junk them up? They might as well park a trailer in their front yard.
So, honestly, unless you are a shrink and some mobster sent you the fountain, ditch it or move it to a more scale and environment friendly location.

Plano Texas Landscaping with Gaudy Fountains and Statues at Entrance. Honestly, that is a lovely fountain, and the scale is more appropriate than most fountain situations in Plano, just place it in a garden setting with some landscaping. Or jack hammer some ground out of that drive and plant some Live Oaks to soften the harshness. Oh, well, that’s my opinion and it is probably worth zip. This is the least offensive fountain situation. Most are truly worrisome as if the owner has lost all sense of scale, proportion and style.

I just don’t get it. Maybe I am too much of a redneck and not sophisticated enough to appreciate this. I am sure the bubbly water sounds wonderful on a hot day but … |
