English Daisy (Bellis perennis)

Common Names: English Daisy, Lawn Daisy
Height: 4 to 6 inches
Spread: 6 to 12 inches
Bloom Time: Traditionally spring in cooler climates, but can rebloom in fall in parts of Texas with mild autumns
USDA Zones: 4–8
Sun Requirements: Full sun to part shade
Soil: Moist, well-drained
Drought Tolerance: Low to Moderate – struggles in hot, dry summers

    • Not recommended for drought-prone areas due to its preference for cooler temperatures and regular moisture
      Uses: Borders, containers, cottage gardens
Wildlife Benefit: Attracts pollinators like bees and butterflies

Considerations for Texas Landscapes

  • English daisies are cool-season biennials or short-lived perennials. In much of Texas, they may act as annuals due to the heat.

  • Best grown as fall-to-spring color in north or central Texas where winters are milder.

  • Not ideal for year-round use in arid or drought-prone regions unless irrigated regularly.
