DMA Sculpture Garden
In Dallas we are blessed with two sculpture centers, the Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher, just across the street! Enjoy.
The Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) is undergoing a major renovation and expansion to improve its facilities and visitor access. In 2023, the museum selected Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos, a Spanish architecture firm, to lead the redesign. Their plan includes significant updates to the Sculpture Garden, aiming to make the outdoor space more open and accessible by removing physical barriers and enhancing walkability.
As part of the larger plan, the DMA intends to add new construction to the existing museum structure and restore parts of the original 1984 Edward Larrabee Barnes building. This update marks the museum’s first significant overhaul in nearly 40 years.
The Sculpture Garden, a popular public feature, will be reimagined with better landscaping, new pathways, and improved accessibility. These changes are designed to better connect the garden with the surrounding Dallas Arts District, allowing for more fluid pedestrian access.

The Nasher Sculpture Center
The Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas offers free admission on the first Saturday of each month as part of its Free First Saturdays program. On these days, visitors can explore the museum and its sculpture garden from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. without charge. Additionally, family-friendly programming is available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring activities such as art-making, guided tours, and scavenger hunts
